About Me
I write to remember what humanity and communities really are and can be. I write and try to create the representation I needed (and still need) to see growing up. I write for the batshit, the messy, the weird, the raw; I write love notes, reminders and wake up calls to every part of myself. I create worlds and I tear chunks out of this one, that harms people and tries to rob them of their authentic selves, hoping each bit I tear is a foundational piece that’ll cause oppressive systems to cave in on themselves. I enjoy devouring stereotypes and labels.
I write to help Black kids see that they’re not the only Black kid who self-harms, lives with a mental illness or needs/is deserving of rest and gentleness and a space to care for/nourish their own softness. I provide space and a microphone for the Queer and genderfucked voices I and other genderfucked Queers deserve(d) to hear, for the Black and Brown sex workers who love their work, who like their work, and/or who are indifferent ‘cause it’s just a job, and they’re doing their best. Because sometimes we’re just doing the best we can and need to know and be reminded that that’s enough. And that we also deserve better.
